How to report incorrect professor information
Kemon Poray editorial guidance · Last reviewed
A useful catalog report identifies the entry, explains the error and provides an official source. It helps distinguish an outdated appointment from a different person with a similar name. Use the Report control on the professor page instead of putting a catalog correction into a teaching review.
Confirm which entry you are reporting
Check the university and department in the page's breadcrumb links. Copy the full professor URL so the report refers to one record. If the same name appears elsewhere, open both pages before deciding they are duplicates. Two faculty members can share a name, and one person may have multiple historical affiliations.
State the correction plainly
Describe one concrete issue: a misspelled name, wrong department, obsolete designation or source link for another person. Include the current value and what you believe it should be. Avoid broad claims that a whole university catalog is wrong if you can only verify a single entry. Separate catalog errors from disagreements about a student's review.
Provide a source that identifies the professor
Prefer an official university profile or faculty listing that shows the relevant name and affiliation. Include the page URL and the date you checked it. If a listing uses a different spelling, explain how the department and designation support the match. Do not send private contact information or a student's account details as evidence.
Handle suspected duplicates carefully
Include both public URLs and explain the evidence that they identify the same person. A matching name alone is not conclusive. Different departments or conflicting appointments may need manual review. Reporting a candidate does not mean it will be merged, and it should not prompt you to submit the same rating to both records.
Keep rating reports separate
If the problem concerns a published review, use its report control and describe the moderation issue. A catalog report should address directory facts. Reports need assessment, so do not assume that submitting one changes the page immediately. You can return to the official source while a correction is being considered.
Privacy and contributing
Public ratings and reviews do not display your email or account label. Account associations remain privately stored to prevent duplicates and control abuse. Google sign-in and a permanent university and department assignment do not prove enrollment. Only rate professors you have studied with and are eligible to rate through the existing account rules.
Find a professor and share your experience
Open a professor page, choose Rate professor, and follow the sign-in and affiliation steps. Written reviews use the existing rating flow and moderation rules.
