Frequently asked questions
Questions about accounts, ratings, and the information the site uses.
How do I sign in?
Use Google sign-in. The app requests only OpenID and email scopes. On your first sign-in, open Settings and choose a university and department.
Does Google sign-in prove that I am a student?
No. It confirms control of a Google account. Your university and department are self-declared and are not checked against an enrollment record.
Can I change my university or department later?
No. The first valid university and department assignment is locked to the account. Check the confirmation carefully before saving.
Can people see my email beside my rating?
No. Public pages show aggregates and trends without your email, Google account ID, internal account ID, or generated handle. The private database does link ratings to a pseudonymous account so the app can prevent duplicates and enforce limits. See the anonymity page for details.
Are there ads?
The current app has no advertising network, ad placements, or ad-targeting code. Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights are enabled to measure site usage and performance; they are analytics tools, not ad placements.
What analytics does the app use?
The app includes Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights. Vercel hosts the site. Supabase hosts the PostgreSQL database, Upstash Redis supports caching and rate limits, and Google handles sign-in. Each provider processes information under its own terms and privacy practices.
Does signing out delete my account or ratings?
No. Signing out clears the browser session. The current app has no self-service account deletion.
More detail is on the privacy notice and anonymity page.
